Redline collections called my sister-in-laws mother looking for me

???  i have never listed her as a reference. we barely know one another. 

ive never even listed my sister-in-law as a reference.

they called in nov of 2009 but i just found the board.

can i go after them for a violation?

The only violation you would have would be improper 3rd party disclosure. What did they tell her? Were they only looking for information to locate you or your place of employment?

As Kitten said just calling her is not a violation but there is LIMITED info they can disclose.   Agree find out exactly what was said and then there might be a violation but with what you have posted at this time there is not a violation.
